How is UMAP Funded?

Member Country Participation
Each member country of UMAP is assessed a subscription fee by the UMAP Board based upon the budget which is required to run the international secretariat. This fee varies from year to year and is assessed and payable annually.

Institutional Participation
Each member country of UMAP staffs and funds its operations independently. For this reason institutional participation fees will vary from country to country. In many countries the costs of administration are borne by the relevant government ministries thus allowing participation fees to be very minimal or even free of charge. U.S. UMAP is funded by a combination of public and private grants and modest membership dues and participant fees.

Student Participation
The principle of reciprocal exchange ensures that students pay only the tuition fees they would normally pay at home. The costs of housing in the host country as well the cost of travel to the host country will vary and will be borne by the student participant. Government and private scholarship assistance may be applicable to such expenses depending upon the rules of the relevant governments and foundations.
