Is My Institution Eligible? As befits the diverse nature of the region, each UMAP member
country has organized their UMAP participation differently. In many of the countries of this region, a central
bureaucracy or the "peak body" responsible for international education administers the country secretariat.
In some it is a combination of public and private interests. In more than one member country there is only one
university resulting in a very different approach to membership than is required in larger countries such as the
United States.
For U.S. institutions, participation in UMAP will require becoming a member of U.S. UMAP. The approach in other
member countries varies. The following pages will assist you in determining your eligibility for UMAP and how you
may participate.
