Does U.S. UMAP provide scholarships to students?
Currently U.S. UMAP does not have the resources to fund scholarships directly. Generally speaking students who
participate in UMAP, by virtue of the fact that they pay their tuition to their home institution as usual and may
take their room and board financing with them, are able to study under UMAP at a cost which is comparable to their
regular yearly expenses. The most likely extraordinary expenses would be international travel and insurance expenses.
While many of the cities where U.S. students would study are significantly less expensive than the United States,
students may choose to study in cities where the room and board expenses would be higher than at their home institution.
U.S. UMAP hopes to develop a scholarship fund to make it possible for students from a wide range of institutions,
economic backgrounds, and regions within the U.S. to take advantage of the opportunities available for study in
the Asia-Pacific.
